Ingredients
- 1 large sweet onion
- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp paprika
- ½ tsp ground cumin
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- ½ tsp dried oregano
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- salt and pepper to taste
- mayonnaise, mustard, or ketchup for dipping
Directions
Cut about 1/2 inch off the top of the onion
Peel the outer paper skin
Cut the onion downward, starting about 1/2 inch away from the root
Turn the onion over and set it aside for five minutes to make it bloom
Mix flour, paprika, cumin, dried thyme, and dried oregano together in a bowl
Pour the flour mixture on top
Coat the onion with the flour mixture
Put the floured onion in another bowl
Whisk egg and mix it with milk together
Put the onion into the egg mixture and coat evenly
Put the onion back into the flour, and coat evenly
Tap off the excess flour and put the onion into the basket
Spray with olive oil Air fry at 350°F for 20 minutes
Spray olive oil on the onion 2 or 3 times during cooking
