This hot and crispy homemade air fryer calamari with salt and pepper flavoring is just what you need for an appetizer. It's ideal for entertaining family or friends. This hot and crispy appetizer is irresistible, and everyone is always impressed when I tell them I made it from scratch. They don't realize how simple it is!
Simply marinate, add a quick breading, and let the air fryer do the rest.
I almost always have a bag of SeaPak calamari on hand, but you can use any frozen breaded calamari brand you like. Right from the freezer, here's how I make this crowd-pleasing appetizer:
Note: These instructions are for freshly frozen calamari, but frozen prepackaged calamari will cook similarly. Simply begin at step 5!

Ingredients
1 lb calamari rings, thawed and patted dry
3 tbsp lemon juice
½ cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp garlic powder
2 egg whites
¼ cup milk
2 cups breadcrumbs
1 ½ tsp salt
1 ½ tsp ground black pepper
Directions
Preheat at 400°F for 3 minutes
Mix calamari rings and lemon juice
Marinate for at least 30 minutes and then drain
Whisk egg whites and milk
Mix breadcrumbs, salt, pepper and garlic powder
Coat the calamari rings first in flour, then in egg mixture, and finally in the breadcrumb mixture
Spray with olive oil
Air fry at 400°F for 7 minutes
Flip halfway through cooking
