Air Fried Indian Samosas
Air Fried Indian Samosas
Air Fried Indian Samosas are a healthier take on the traditional deep-fried snack, maintaining the authentic taste and crispiness while significantly reducing the oil content. The dough, prepared with all-purpose flour and minimal oil, yields a crunchy texture when air-fried, making it a guilt-free indulgence.
The flavorful filling, a blend of spiced mashed potatoes and peas, offers a delightful contrast of textures and aromatic Indian spices. Sautéed onions, garlic, ginger, and a mix of traditional spices elevate the taste, providing a perfect balance of heat and savory goodness.
This recipe simplifies the samosa-making process by using an air fryer, which achieves the desired crunchiness without the excess oil. These air-fried samosas are perfect as appetizers for gatherings or as a delicious snack enjoyed with your favorite dipping sauce. Enjoy the crispy, golden-brown exterior and the flavorful, savory filling in every delightful bite!

Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Water, as needed
- 2 medium potatoes, boiled and mashed
- 1/2 cup green peas, boiled
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger
- 1 green chili, finely chopped (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1 teaspoon coriander seeds, crushed
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh cilantro leaves, chopped (for garnish)
- Air Fryer cooking spray or oil
Directions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, salt, and vegetable oil. Mix well.
- Gradually add water while kneading to form a smooth and stiff dough. Cover it with a damp cloth and set it aside for about 20-30 minutes.
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add cumin seeds and crushed coriander seeds. Let them splutter.
- Add chopped onions, minced garlic, grated ginger, and green chilies. Sauté until the onions turn translucent.
- Add turmeric powder, garam masala, red chili powder, and salt. Stir well.
- Add boiled mashed potatoes and boiled peas. Mix thoroughly and cook for 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and let it cool.
- Divide the dough into equal-sized balls. Roll each ball into a thin oval or circle.
- Cut the circle in half. Take one half and form a cone by folding and sealing the edges with water.
- Fill the cone with the prepared potato-pea mixture. Seal the top edge tightly to enclose the filling, forming a triangular shape.
- Preheat the air fryer at 350°F (180°C) for 5 minutes.
- Lightly grease the samosas with cooking spray or brush them with oil.
- Place the samosas in the air fryer basket in a single layer, leaving some space between each samosa.
- Air fry at 350°F (180°C) for 10 minutes, then flip the samosas and air fry for an additional 5-7 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crisp.
- Once done, remove the samosas from the air fryer and let them cool for a few minutes.
- Garnish with freshly chopped cilantro leaves and serve hot with mint chutney or tamarind sauce.
